 * * * Freedom and Security: How do we find the balance? * * *

Since 9/11, our country has been trying to del with this issue in very practical ways.  We have tightened airport security.  We have tightened security at large public gatherings, such as sporting events.  We are being more watchful in many different ways.
In many ways, the American people are taking up the job themselves.  People seem more engaged with each other... more willing to say "Hello" or to talk to strangers... more willing to get involved.  This has been a good reaction on the part of the people of the USA.
But when we start talking about National ID cards or other serious attacks on the Freedoms we have so long enjoyed, we should be very concerned.  How do we find the balance?  What can we do to provide national Security without giving up national Freedoms?

What significance do these points have on our current political system?
Can you be a politician and be honest?
